April 12, 2024: First Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Andrey Yatskin and Rostov Oblast Deputy Governor Alexander Skryabin visited Taganrog within the framework of a working trip to the city. They took part in a meeting on
Taganrog's urban revitalization program.
The meeting brought together, inter alia, Rostov Oblast Acting Minister of Transport Inna Volodina, Rostov Oblast Deputy Minister of Economic Development Roman Shekhovtsev, Taganrog City Manager Andrey Fateyev, and CEO of Tourism.RF Corp. Sergey Krasnopyorov. Senator of the Federation Council Vyacheslav Timchenko, deputy director of Tourism Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Konstantin Gorodilin, first deputy chairman of State Development Corporation VEB.RF Nikolay Tsekhomsky joined the meeting via video conferencing.
The supervisory board considered further development of Taganrog as a tourist destination. In particular, Andrey Yatskin laid emphasis on such goals as creating and upgrading beaches, camping pitches, hotel resorts.
"We will discuss a number of interesting offers from would-be investors who are game to finance the city's tourist activities," said Andrey Yatskin.
During the meeting, some other issues came up for discussion: namely, repairs of street and area lighting in the city's Voenny Gorodok neighborhood and the
development of electric transport in Taganrog. As for the latter, questions about
new electric-bus services and charging stations were raised.
Moreover, the supervisory board addressed the matter of the
historic Oak Grove, which is currently under refurbishment. Plans are underway to build a play area, garden houses, signposts, additional security cameras. Director for urban environment of DOM.RF Anton Finogenov made a report on his company's contribution towards the beautification of the Oak Grove.
"One of the critical goals of DOM.RF is to preserve and renovate historic parks and cultural heritage sites. In our project, we have taken the special characteristics of the ecosystem of the Oak Grove into account. Local walking routes have already been upgraded; benches, trash bins, streetlights, signage have been set there; the bottom of the small river Bolshaya Cherepakha has been dragged. We have cultivated the plot of land for a play area, which is to be build upon our project. It is important that locals are involved, we take their opinion into account," said Anton Finogenov.
