Artworks of "The Heritage of Cyril and Methodius" Participants Exhibited and Awarded in Lüleburgaz, Turkey

July 3, 2021: Lüleburgaz District Governor Salih Yüce visited the art exhibition, which opened at the Science and Art Center of the Lüleburgaz Chamber of Commerce and Industry on June 30. Students of the department of painting Levent Tarim, Tuana Birgin, Giray Çavus, Nefise Esma Bozkurt, Esma Nihal Arslan had drawn pictures on Russian literature and Slavic culture.

They had been exhibited at Taganrog Municipal Secondary School Number 5 together with the pictures of other foreign and Russian students. In return, drawings from Taganrog Municipal Secondary School Number 5, illustrating of Turkish and Russian culture, were exhibited at the Science and Art Center alongside pictures of Turkish students (Sude Aslan, Yigit Ates, Berrak Seven, Deva Beyza Topcular, Defne Bozkurt, Damlanur Sapmaz, Cahide Ceylin Celayir, Yagiz Kaan Gürsey, Yagmur Karatas, Burak Karan Çelik, Özgü Baskan, Irem Dal, Asli Kanberun, Meyra Inalt Ayyürek).

Governor Salih Yüce and District National Education Director Cihan Erdem awarded special certificates to Levent Tarim, Tuana Birgin, Giray Çavus, Nefise Esma Bozkurt, Esma Nihal Arslan, whose drawings had been exhibited in Taganrog.

"The Heritage of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the modern world" realized by Taganrog Foreign Relations Office and Taganrog School Number 5 became an international project in 2013. The meaning of "heritage" is not limited to Orthodox background of Slavic missionaries, and focuses on the Cyrillic alphabet. This is why the subject scope was very wide, ranging from Christianity to linguistics. The forms of participation were also very different: drawings, photographs, essays, research studies, scenarios of Saints Cyril and Methodius' Day Celebrations, videoconferencing ("video bridge"), and many more.

The first project was realized in 2009 and became an international event in 2013. In 2020, the students of Luleburgaz Bilsem Gençlik Mh. Gunes School Nr. 17 from the city of Kirklareli, Turkey participated for the first time, showing their great enthusiasm.
