December 26, 2022: a new exhibition was unveiled to the public at Taganrog Museum of Local Lore and History, more commonly known as the
Alferaki Palace. The building was
under renovation in 2017-2021. Until February 10, 2023 visitors of the museum are welcome to see the exhibition dedicated to Art Nouveau.
The visitors of the exhibition will immerse in the daily life of that time, viewing samples of book graphics and applied art, as well as cutlery, glass, accessories and furniture that belonged to families from Rostov-on-Don, Nakhichevan and Taganrog. The exhibit was provided by Rostov Oblast Museum of Local Lore and History and Taganrog Group of Museums (TGLIAMZ).
Art Nouveau, also known as the Modern Style in English, is a style of decorative art, architecture, and design prominent in western Europe, Russia and the US from about 1890 until World War I and characterized by intricate linear designs and flowing curves based on natural forms.
The exhibition is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 AM to 5 PM. Venue: Taganrog Museum of Local Lore and History (Alferaki Palace), Ulitsa Frunze 41.
