May 11, 2018: The
International Children's Art Contest "Anton Chekhov and Characters of his Works" was held for the ninth time in the city of Taganrog.
In 2018, 1625 artworks from Russia and 24 world countries were received by the organizers of the Chekhov Art Contest: Bangladesh, Byelorussia, Bulgaria, Peoples' Republic of China, Donetsk Peoples' Republic, Germany, Great Britain, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Luhansk Peoples' Republic, Malaysia, Peru, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Transnistria, Ukraine, United States of America and Vietnam.
Young artists from Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Peru, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam took part for the very first time, bringing the overall number of participant countries to 47. The 9th edition of the contest has been very special in many ways - for the first time the Grand Prix was awarded to a foreign national, a little boy named Kwok Tsz Long Ethan, aged 5, representing the art school "IM Creative" from the city of Kowloon, Hong Kong.
A very remarkable contribution was also made by the students of I.E.P. Jireh school from Lima, Peru and kids from Taganrog partner cities, including
Jining,
Lüdenscheid and
Khartsyzsk.
