Trans-BlackSea "Ring Road" Through Taganrog

October 6, 2008: The international conference of the countries members of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) dedicated to development of health spa and tourist infrastructure in the Black Sea region kicked off in Kabardinka, Krasnodar Region, Russia.

Within the framework of the conference will be held discussions on the topics: "Investment possibilities of the Black Sea region" and "Training personnel for tourism industry in the BSEC countries". Mr. Anatoly Yarochkin, Chief of the National Tourism Agency, Mr. Yevgeniy Muraviev, the First Vice-Governor of the Krasnodar Region, Mr. Predrag Gavrilovich representative of BSEC Secretariat and Mr. Victor Khrestin, Mayor of Gelendzhik participated in the conference opening ceremony.

Representatives of national tourism bodies of Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Azerbaijan and Turkey, and heads of Russian regional tourism departments will participate in plenary sessions and round table discussions.

At present, the BSEC countries develop the project of building a ring road around the Black Sea. According to the preliminary project, one part of the Trans-Blacksea road will go through Caucasus, and namely through Georgian cities of Batumi and Poti and three Russian cities - Novorossiysk, Rostov on Don and Taganrog. Azerbaijan intends to participate in this project by highway Poti-Tbilissi-Baku, and also Rostov on Don-Volgograd-Astrakhan-Baku. The construction of the ring road was initiated by Russian Federation.

The following countries are members of BSEC: Azerbaijan, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Georgia, Moldavia, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine and Armenia. Thirteen countries, including Byelorussia, Germany, USA and France have the observer status.
