August 22, 2022: Taganrog Bay Cup, which is an interregional sailing competition, and Chekhov Regatta "Chaika" ("The Seagull") were held in the water area of Taganrog Bay on August 15-19. The athletes from Sevastopol, Krasnodar, Rostov Oblast (the cities of Rostov-on-Don, Taganrog and Azov) competed in such classes as the Optimist, the Cadet, the 420, the Zoom 8, the Laser Radial, the Laser 4.7, the Finn, the Luch Radial, and the Luch Mini.
Following the races, Deputy City Manager for Social Affairs Irina Golubeva, Taganrog City Council Deputy President Valery Selivanov and director of Taganrog Youth Sports School of Olympic Reserve No. 3 Olga Tishchenko congratulated the participants during the award ceremony.
"Chaika" is the original Russian title of Anton Chekhov's play "The Seagull". Chekhov Regatta "Chaika" was held for the first time in 2010.
