Chekhov scholar and director of "Tschechow Salon" museum, Mr. Heinz Setzer and another old-time friend Mr. Rolf Siegismund from partner city
Badenweiler is visiting the city of Taganrog within the framework of the "German Days" festival. The program includes a series of conferences, linguistic and music activities, workshops and contests for the learners of the German language.
One of the highlights of the opening day was the lecture "Badenweiler - a Russian Village?" delivered by Mr. Setzer, Deputy Chairman of the German Chekhov Society at the South-Russian Center of Science and Culture, Taganrog State Museum-Preserve.
The lecture attracted a large number of audience members and was followed by a series of theatricals "Chekhov and Taganrog", presented by school students and dedicated to
Anton Chekhov and a concert by Municipal Chamber Choir "LIK".
During the tour of the city, German guests visited the memorial museum "Birth House of Anton Chekhov", Taganrog Museum of Literature "Chekhov Gymnasium", the historic building of
Chekhov Drama Theater, Tchaikovsky House and other historical landmarks.
