December 13, 2017: the city of Taganrog will be officially part of hosting the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and has been included into the TOP-10 Rostov Oblast destinations. December 9-10, 2017 a media tour through Taganrog's downtown area and other major Rostov Oblast cities was held by the Rostov Oblast Economic Development Ministry for representatives of tourist industry and journalists.
The press trip participants went for a Taganrog city tour, attending its main attractions - numerous museums, historical and architectural monuments,
Taganrog Chekhov Drama Theater, St. Nicholas The Wonderworker Church, boundaries of the former Saint Trinity Fortress, and hospitality industry businesses - hotels, restaurants and cafés.
The visit was led by the best tour guides who told the guests a lot about the
history of Taganrog and many outstanding personalities associated with the city:
Anton Chekhov, Peter the Great, Alexander I, Alexander Pushkin, Pyotr Tchaikovsky,
Faina Ranevskaya,
Valentin Parnakh,
Saint Pavel of Taganrog, and many others.
The participants discussed the program of visit, and exchanged ideas and opinions on the development of tourism potential in the region.
