National boxing team of Northern Ireland visited Taganrog

April 10, 2016: The national boxing team of Northern Ireland (Great Britain) visited Taganrog. The Irish athletes came to Rostov Oblast on a return visit within the framework of cooperation with regional boxing federation. The guests came to Taganrog in company with the former national champion of Russia, Taganrog-born boxer Roman Podoprigora with just a day to explore the city's rich cultural heritage and visit memorial sites related to Anton Chekhov.

The sportsmen from Belfast, Northern Ireland visited the "Chekhovs' Shop" Museum, the Tchaikovsky house, Peter the Great monument, Pushkin Embankment, and other places of interest in historic downtown area. Another point of the program was the Russian Orthodox church of Saint Nicolas The Wonderworker, where the Irish met and spoke with priests of Taganrog deanery who showed them around the oldest place of worship in the city.

According to the guests, they enjoyed the warm weather on this beautiful spring day in Taganrog.
