The International Scientific-Practical Conference "Anton Chekhov's "Steppe": 120 years"

May 18 - 23, the international scientific-practical conference "Anton Chekhov's "Steppe": 120 years" will be held in Taganrog.

The Chekhovian readings in Taganrog have been held since mid-60's. Traditionally, one time in two years Chekhov scholars, critics, translators, theatrologists, directors and actors of theatre and cinema, representatives of mass media: radio, TV, newspapers - gather in the Chekhov's home city.

The purpose of such forums is to bring into focus of the public nationwide and worldwide the real opportunity of educating youth on the best samples of Chekhovian prose and dramatic art.

Within the framework of 150-th Chekhov birth anniversary celebrations, will be held the regular conference "Anton Chekhov's "Steppe": 120 years ". Among founders of conference - the Ministry of Culture of the Rostov Oblast, the Chekhovian commission of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Taganrog Local Government, the Taganrog State Literary and Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve.

Among participants of conference - the chairman of the Chekhovian commission of the Russian academy of sciences, Doctor of Philology Valentin Kataev; the secretary of the commission, Candidate of Philology Irina Gitovich, the faculty of higher educational institutions, managers and employees of the museums named after Chekhov, directors, journalists, mass media.

The international conference "Anton Chekhov's "Steppe": 120 years" will be held at Alferaki Palace (Museum of Local Lore of Taganrog).
