July 15, 2006 - The home city of
Anton Chekhov paid tribute to 102 years since the day the world-famous playwright and short-story writer passed away in
Badenweiler, Germany.
The Official Flower laying ceremony at the foot of the monument to Chekhov was held at 10-00 AM at Chekhov Plaza. It was also "the day of open doors" in every museum throughout the city. Several tours, concerts, theater plays and exhibitions were offered in the Chekhov Library, the Literary Museum (Gymnasium), City Park and Alferaki Palace.
July 16, 2006 - the Anton Chekhov Tribute Concert was held onstage of the open-air "Green Theater" in the Taganrog Municipal Park.
