Taganrog Archer Yelena Osipova Received a State Award

August 16, 2021: according to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin's decree, Russian Tokyo Olympic gold medalists together with rhythmic gymnast Dina Averina were awarded the Order of Friendship. The decree was published on August 11.

Russian athletes who won silver and bronze medals received the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the first and second classes. Among them is Taganrog archer Yelena Osipova, who claimed her first silver medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo as a member of the ROC women's national archery team and her second silver medal in women's individual archery event. She received the Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the first class.

Russia, under the name of the Team ROC (the Russian Olympic Committee) due to international sanctions against Russian sports, ranked 5th in the 2020 Summer Olympics medal table (sorted by the number of gold medals) and 3rd in the overall medals standings. Taganrog athletes brought home three silver medals. They were won by Yelena Osipova and tennis player Aslan Karatsev.
