Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Russian Federation visits Rostov Oblast and Taganrog

September 9, 2009: Matti Anttonen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to the Russian Federation visited the Rostov Oblast. The aim of the visit was the acquaintance with the region and its economic and investment potential. In Rostov on Don, Ambassador Anttonen met with Rostov Oblast Governor Vladimir Tchub and discussed the perspectives of beneficial cooperation between Finland and Don Land. The Governor invited a trade and economic delegation from Finland to visit and participate in the 9th International Economic Forum "The Entrepreneurship in the South of Russia: innovation and development", which is to be held in Rostov on Don October 29-31, 2009.

The parties agreed to hold a large-scale event, which will be aimed at boosting the mutual economic exchanges and cooperation: May 17-19, 2010 "The Days of Finland" will be held in Rostov. The event is being organized by the Ministry of Employment and Economic Development of Finland and by the society "Russia-Finland".

Ambassador Matti Anttonen and Mayor Nikolay Fedyanin In the afternoon, the Finnish trade delegation headed by the Ambassador Anttonen visited the TKZ Krasny Kotelshik factory, Taganrog Local Government where he had a meeting with Nikolay Fedyanin, Mayor of Taganrog, which was followed by a regular press conference at Mayor's Office, and the Taganrog Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TICCI).

The city's tourist attractions - Peter the Great monument, Birth House of Anton Chekhov and Alferaki Palace - were honored by a memorable visit of the Finnish Ambassador.
