Sept. 12-16, 2008: On the eve of Taganrog City Day, an official delegation and a folk group from the Bulgarian sister city
Cherven Bryag came to Taganrog. Danail Valov, mayor of Cherven Bryag, headed the delegation.
Danail Valov congratulated all citizens on Taganrog's 310-year anniversary and said that every citizen of Russia and Bulgaria knows how deep the friendship between these two nations is. The friendship stood the test of the time, united with the Russian and Bulgarian people's blood, which was shed for liberation of Bulgarian people from the 500 years-long Ottoman yoke.
Mayor Fedyanin and mayor Valov discussed the intensification of municipal, business and cultural exchanges between the two cities and on September 15, 2008 signed a new cooperation agreement. Nikolay Fedyanin expressed the certainty that the friendship between Taganrog and
Cherven Bryag and between Russia and Bulgaria will grow stronger in the years to come.
Bulgarian delegation was also received by Alexander Amerkhanov, President of the
Taganrog Interregional Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TICCI). The parties agreed to intensify business contacts, exchange business delegation and cooperate within the framework of the
IBSC.
The participation of the Bulgarian folk group "Cherven Bryag" became one of the highlights of the
310th Taganrog City Day celebration.
