October 5-8, 2012: Herbert Zachl, member of the German Chekhov Society (Deutsche Tschechow-Gesellschaft) from the Austrian town of Wartberg an der Krems is visiting Taganrog for the 17th time. Herbert Zachl's father, Alois Zachl, died in Taganrog in 1945. In 2010, Herbert Zachl initiated the visit of the Austrian folk choir "Singkreis Windischgarsten" to Taganrog, and in the year 2011 he contributed to planning
two concerts of Taganrog municipal choir LIK in upper Austria.
Among other contributions are: assistance in search of Soviet soldiers' burial places in the territory of Austria, promotion of
The 6th Taganrog International Book Festival among Austrian authors, and three documentary films about trips to Taganrog that were broadcast by ORF and SAT3 TV channels.
October 5, Mr. Zachl was received by Mayor Prasolov at the Mayor's Office, and was awarded with a mayor's letter of commendation.
