October 18, 2022: a public planting of trees took place in Taganrog on October 15. It was held within the framework of "Arbor Day"'s autumn campaign. The city has kept the tradition to observe this holiday since the first action, which was held
nine years ago with participation of Dr. Georg Birgelen, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy in Moscow.
More than 1,100 trees and 650 shrubs were planted in the grounds of public spaces and local enterprises. Rostov Oblast Vice-Governor Alexander Skryabin, Rostov Oblast Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Alla Kushnaryova,
Taganrog City Council (Duma) President and City Executive Inna Titarenko, Taganrog City Manager Mikhail Solonitsin participated in the planting together with representatives of various organizations, municipal officials, and city residents.
The main work area on Arbor Day was Oktyabrskaya Plaza. Following the urban greening program, tree seedlings of 43 virginian junipers, 42 barberries, 30 junipers, 25 Norway maples, 15 silver maples, 8 Ginnala maples, 3 plane trees, and 3 Scandinavian mountain ash were planted.
Government workers and citizens planted hundreds of tree seedlings in other separate locations, including the historic "Oak Grove" ("Dubki"), Chekhov Embankment,
TAGMET and
Proboy areas, Ulitsa Babushkina, etc.
