November 26, 2019: the opening session of the Congress of Russian Language Teachers in the Southern Federal District was held in the city of Taganrog November 20-22.
The purpose of the Congress was to identify, generalize and popularize the positive practices and experiences in teaching the Russian language, and to promote the Russian language as the fundamental basis of civic identity, cultural and educational unity of multi-ethnic Russia.
Teachers of philological sciences from colleges and universities, teachers of Russian language and literature, specialists in teaching methods of Russian, and representatives of educational authorities were invited to participate in the Congress.
Over 500 participants gathered at the opening session, which was held on November 21 in Taganrog. Among them were teachers, tutors, heads of district and local methodological associations of teachers of the Russian language and literature, employees of centers for the development of education and educational departments, students.
Taganrog City Council President and City Executive Inna Titarenko welcomed the audience at the opening session: "I would like to wish you constructive and fruitful scientific dialogue, interesting debates, new discoveries and sharing of personal experience and perspectives with your colleagues at this event".
Representatives of Rostov, Astrakhan, Volgograd regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, delegates from Adygea and Crimea, guests from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Bryansk and Yekaterinburg, as well as from foreign countries - Austria, Chile, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary,Italy, Kazakhstan, Turkey, USA, Uzbekistan and Vietnam took part in the congress.
Among the topics of five round tables and seven sections were the formation of a speech culture in a dialect environment, strategies for the perception and understanding of a literary text, intersubject communications in the lessons of the Russian language and literature, the study and teaching of Russian as a foreign language.
