Arkady Vyatchanin winner of an international competition

December 28, 2008: One golden and one bronze medals brought Taganroger Arkady Vyatchanin into the list of trophies won by the Rostov Oblast School of Olympic Reserve.

Arkady Vyatchanin set a new Russian national record at the international swimming competition (short course) in Saint Petersburg - the Vladimir Salnikov Cup.

On the second day of the competition, the third-year student of the Rostov Oblast School of Olympic Reserve, winner of two Beijing Olympics Games bronze medals, the 24-year old Arkady Vyatchanin set a new Russian national record in the 200 meters backstroke, showing the result of 1.48,55. The athlete's coaches are the Honored Coaches of Russia Irina Vyatchanina and Arkady Fyodorovich Vyatchanin.

Another bronze medal was won by the Taganrog athlete in the 50m backstroke (results: 1. Randall Bal (USA) - 23,07; 2.Helge Meeuw (Germany) - 23,49; 3.Arkady Vyatchanin (Russia) - 23,70).
