More than 70 Taganrogers who fought for liberation of
the Ukraine in 1943-1944 have been awarded with this medal.
Mayor of Taganrog Nikolay
Fedyanin emphasized that liberation of the Ukraine
was one of the most hard-fought battles of the Great Patriotic
War (WWII), which brought the enemy army into disaster.
Today, 62 years after the V-Day, we still admire the courage
of the veterans. Their life and their activity in various
veteransŐ organizations help the younger generations to
understand that boundaries that separate the countries
may not separate people and sister nations.
Ukraine will never forget the feat of arms of their liberators
as the country who honors the memory of the Great Patriotic
War and will never allow that kind of blasphemy, which
is now happening in the Estonia. This was the message
of Mr. Plokhiy, Consul General of Ukraine in Rostov on
Don, who personally remitted the medals to veterans.
