September 24, 2016: a meeting between students of Taganrog Municipal School no. 5 and Alexander Turowez, Russian-speaking student of vocational-technical school BKT Lüdenscheid - Berufskolleg für Technik from sister-city
Lüdenscheid, was held within the framework of the long-term international project
"The Heritage of Cyril and Methodius in the contemporary world". It is dedicated to Cyrillic writing, Slavic languages using Cyrillic and Slavic culture. Citizens of many countries took part in the project: Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine, Byelorussia, Germany, USA, Kyrgyzstan, Austria.

The discussion was in German and Russian languages and was organized by Taganrog City Hall's foreign relations office in the historical building of Tchaikovsky House, which is currently a foreign literature branch of Taganrog Chekhov Public Library. Alexander Turowez is staying in the city with
the delegation of BKT college, on a visit to Taganrog Civil Engineering College no.30.
The point of the meeting was one of the project's topics - Russian language outside of Russia. Alexander told the students, that there are many Russian speaking citizens in
Lüdenscheid, most of whom came from the ex-Soviet states or their descendants. Although Russian is not the most popular foreign language in Germany, there are classes even at BKT.

After the meeting, students took photos, made selfies and exchanged contacts to stay in touch via electronic correspondence.
