April 14, 2016: from 2000 onwards the biennial World Choir Games have brought together non-professional choirs from all over the world to meet and sing. Its motto is "Singing together brings nations together". The previous edition of the largest choir competition in the world was held in 2014 in the Latvian capital Riga, when a total of 27,000 participants from 73 nations got together for a feast of choral music.
Besides amateur choirs, World Choir Games traditionally offer opportunities for professional groups out of competition. Russian Ministry of Culture and All-Russian Choral Society invited
Taganrog Municipal Choir "Lik" among other prizewinning professional choirs to participate in the 9th edition in Sochi, Russia from July 6 until July 16, 2016.
