May 24, 2019: Debrecen University's delegation led by Dr. József Goretity is visiting within the framework of continued cooperation with Taganrog Chekhov Teachers College (part of Rostov State University of Economics). The scientific exchange between the two educational institutions was initiated years ago in the format of several video conferences, organized by the local Center for Chekhov Studies (part of Taganrog college).
The visit started with a lecture on contemporary Hungarian fiction, delivered by Dr. Goretity - Head of the Russian Center and the Institute of Slavic Studies at the University of Debrecen and a meeting with students and professors of History Department and Department of Language and Literature. Educational program involves many other participants, including Olga Syuch - president of Tolstoy Association for Hungarian-Russian Cooperation, Dr. Ildiko Regeczi of D.U. and Dr. Angelika Molnár of D.U., who participated in the 9th international scholarly conference
"Chekhov Memorial Lectures in Taganrog" in April 2017.
Guests from Debrecen have taken an active part in the 13th International Chekhov Book Festival, which is held by Taganrog Art & Culture Council on May 22-25, 2019. Hungarian guests held a workshop on literary translation and public lectures on Hungarian modern art and on the interplay between Russian and Hungarian literatures.
