September 4, 2015: a delegation from the city of Aglantzia (Cyprus) headed by Mayor Kortas visited the city of Taganrog.
In the interview to local mass media, Mr. Kortas mentioned that the many people in Cyprus read Anton Chekhov and love his plays that are frequently produced on stage of Aglantzia Theater. "Russia - is the only country in the world, besides Greece of course, that has been consistent in supporting the people of Cyprus. Since the Greek War of Independence, Russia has always sided with Greece, and we feel this continued assistance. We have one common history and one faith. I would like to thank people of Russia and its government for their support that is always appreciated" - told Mayor of Aglantzia.
During the tour of the city, Mr. Kostas, in company with aldermen of Aglantzia city council, deputy mayor of Azov City Evgeny Mamichev, his staff, and members of the folk group "Rimvos" visited Taganrog Museum of Art, the Chekhov Birth House museum and went sightseeing downtown Taganrog.
The same evening the folk group "Rimvos" from Aglantzia performed on the open-air stage in Taganrog's Gorky Park within the framework of the 15th international festival "Sodruzhestvo" ("Commonwealth").
