Delegation of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences visited the city of Taganrog

October 11, 2018: A delegation of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia headed by its president Giorgi Ivanovich Kvesitadze visited the city of Taganrog. The meeting was held at the Taganrog College of Technology (part of Don State Technical University, DSTU).

The guests participated in the opening of renovated classrooms and laboratory buildings of the college. Within the framework of the visit an interactive public lecture on the topic of "Phytoremediation as a way for cleaning up contaminated soils". Giorgi Kvesitadze presented an overview of data studying the possibility of applying phytoremediation methods, highlighting the necessity for sharpening environment-friendly thinking of students, who study to become engineers.


The foreign delegation also included: Mr. Ramaz Khurodze - Chief Scientific Secretary of the Presidium of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Mrs. Lali Gogeliani - professor of Georgian Technical University and the University of Iowa, Mr. Tengiz Malania - film director and vice-president of the Photojournalists and Cinematographers Association of Georgia. The event was attended by Mrs. Svetlana Shvedova - Don State Technical University's vice-rector for International Affairs.

The parties discussed modalities for increased cooperation and coordination, including study abroad programs, joint research projects and events.
