April 1, 2024: the international archery tournament "Grand Prix Shymkent" took place on March 25-30 in the city of Shymkent, Kazakhstan. The competition brought together over 250 athletes from 6 countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan).
Yelena Osipova from Taganrog ranked 9th in the mixed event and won gold in women's individual recurve bow.
"We shot in the heat, and in the storm, and in the wind. I broke an arrow when I got a bullseye. There is still room for improvement, but I am more or less satisfied with the results," wrote Elena Osipova on her VKontakte page.
Throughout her distinguished career, Yelena Osipova has been on track for a great number of medals and other major achievements. Among the most important, she won
a silver medal at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo as a member of the ROC women's national archery team and another
silver medal in women's individual archery event. She was among the athletes to receive the state award - the
Medal of the Order "For Merit to the Fatherland" of the first class.
Most recently, Yelena Osipova
won a silver medal in women's team recurve bow at the 3rd World Archery Championship of the International Military Sports Council in February 2024.
