Russian-German exhibition of children's drawings opens in Taganrog.

September 15, 2016: the 6th Russian-German kids' art exhibition opened at Taganrog Youth Center within the framework of "We Draw Together" project.

The exhibit showcases 20 artworks made by children from Germany and 85 drawings by young Taganrogers. Bright and vibrant colors transmit kids' impressions of their favorite cartoons featuring fairy-tale characters: Assol, Winnie-the-Pooh, Doctor Aybolit, the golden fish, Kay and Gerda, Cheburashka with Gena the Crocodile, Kashtanka and many more.


The opening ceremony kicked off with a video bridge that connected the guests with young artists in Germany and Svetlana Samsonova, director of Gütersloh art school. The group of young artists from Taganrog was led by Svetlana Sergeeva, member of the Artists Trade Union of Russia. Mrs. Natalia Petrovskaya, representative of Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh in Taganrog welcomed the participants of the ceremony with an opening address, highlighting that 6 exhibitions featuring Taganrog children's drawing were held in Germany within 8 years: "Today, when relations between Russia and its European partners are plagued by economic sanctions, the culture is what still unites and brings our nations closer and helping to understand each other. November 22 the 13th consecutive joint kids drawings exhibition will open in Berlin within the framework of Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh's 25th anniversary celebration".


In the closing Mrs. Petrovskaya, who for many years has been the mover of this project, thanked all the people involved for assistance in holding this exhibition - Mrs. Yelena Sirota, alderwoman of Taganrog City Council, Prof. Mrs. Galina Polenova of Taganrog Teachers College, Mr. Dimitri Koulitchev, Senior Specialist of Taganrog Foreign Relations Office.


At the end of the ceremony, young artists from Taganrog received Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh diplomas and commendation letters signed by Mr. Franz Kiesl, the First Chairman of the organization.
