The September 24, 2014 Storm's Impact on Taganrog By the Numbers.

October 1, 2014: the storm's impact on the city of Taganrog:

  • The maximum water level rise in the Gulf of Taganrog reached 7.81 meters (25.6 ft.);
  • 162 houses flooded (66 citizens evacuated, 33 flood victims sheltered in the evacuation center created at the hotel "Taganrog" );
  • 33 people hospitalized (no lethal cases reported);
  • Over 10 000 Taganrog citizens came out for volunteer work ("subbotnik") on Saturday, Sept. 27;
  • 552 fallen trees reported up to date;
  • 1300 downed power lines;
  • All municipal parks (especially Gorky Park in downtown area) suffered extensive damage;
  • 25755 trees in need of cutting away dead or overgrown branches;
  • 632 dump trucks full of tree parts etc hauled away (as of September 29, 2014);
  • 8276 cubic meters (292226 cu.ft.) of waste wood hauled away (as of October 1, 2014);
  • The storm caused over 230 million rubles ($6 million) in property damage (preliminary estimate).
