Taganrog Drama Theater participates at Shakespeare Performance Project

April 12, 2012: a group of artists from Latvia, Italy, Ireland and Ukraine representing IUGTE (International university "Global Theatre Experience") led by Sergey Ostrenko, Head of the Russian Theatre Department of IUGTE is visiting Taganrog April 12-15, 2012. The arrival of this group is only the first stage in the project to be realized in the city of Taganrog. The group of artists will be joined by local theater actors and artists from Australia and the United States.

The new production of a Shakespeare's play will premiere on November 24, 2012 after several stages of work. On first stages the foreign guests being directors, art directors, artists and financial directors meet in Taganrog to assess the level and possibilities of Taganrog Theater's actors. Next stage is distribution of roles and work on the details. Third stage will be work with the international group of actors participating in the new production, the fourth stage would be a remote job to be practiced by the actors of Taganrog Chekhov Drama Theater. Final stage would be final rehearsing by all artists in early November 2012.

The language of the production would be Russian, but the first performance of this theatrical work will be in the languages of the artists who participate only in the premiere. After this first production the play will be included into the repertoire of Taganrog Theater Company. All decorations to be produced basing on sketches by this international group would stay in Taganrog.

IUGTE is the non-governmental non-profit organization founded in 2000. The organization was established with the purpose of exploring the bridge between world theatre traditions and contemporary performing arts, developing international programmes, promoting multicultural dialogue, supporting the freedom of creative expression and tolerance through the acquaintance with the diversity of world traditions.
