September 2, 2020: international mobile exhibition "Remembrance Dialogue - Way for Peace" is to open at Taganrog Chekhov Public Library on September 4, at 15:00. It promises to become one of the most significant cultural events in Taganrog after a long COVID-19 lockdown.
The exhibition is the result of
bilateral cooperation and a research and educational project led by Taganrog Chekhov Teachers College and NGO Friedensgruppe ("Group for Peace") from sister city
Lüdenscheid, with the assistance of Taganrog Local Government's Foreign Relations Office. It is symbolic that the event will be started off in online mode simultaneously in Russia and Germany by Taganrog City Manager Andrei Lisitskiy and
Lüdenscheid's mayor Dieter Dzewas.
The purpose of the Russian-German project is to preserve historical memory and strengthen the partnership between Russia and Germany. The exhibition is intended to highlight the Nazis' rise to power (1933-1934), the hardship of the Nazi occupation period in Taganrog (1941-1943), and a number of related issues.
