July 7, 2021: in accordance with the regulation, passed by the acting chief sanitary inspector of Rostov Oblast Anatoly Konchenko, vaccination against COVID-19 has been declared to be mandatory in this region since July 1.
No less than 60 per cent of workers in the trade sector, catering, public transportation, taxi and livery, beauty salons, massage rooms, fitness clubs, household services must be immunized. As well, employees in education, health, social protection, culture, and some other categories are obliged to be vaccinated.
The resolution also states that the share of voluntarily vaccinated residents reached only 31.5 per cent of the planned number. This was the reason to make vaccination mandatory.
Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev expressed his willingness to establish medical units for Russians from the unrecognized Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. It was reported during an interview to TASS that they would be vaccinated voluntarily.
As of July 7, 101171 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Rostov Oblast, and 91112 persons have already recovered.
