COVID-19 City of Taganrog's Mitigation And Response #14

May 20, 2020: the stay-at-home order, which was announced on March 30 by Rostov Oblast Governor Vasily Golubev in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, was extended until further notice. Since April 16, 2020 every person coming to Taganrog from other regions of Russia or from abroad must report to the nearest outpatient clinic and maintain a 2-week mandatory lockdown at home. On May 1, 2020 Rostov Oblast Government and health officials announced a mandatory requirement for residents to wear face coverings or masks when out in public in light of the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Use of all public recreation areas and facilities is prohibited. Taganrog and all the cities in Rostov Oblast are under lockdown: residents must stay indoors unless they are going out for essential needs such as to seek emergency medical care, to obtain food from the nearest shop, walk pets within 100 meters from home, take out the garbage or go to work. It is allowed to visit the relatives aged 65 and over, and to deliver them food and medical supplies. Essential businesses that continue to operate facilities have scaled down operations and received special permits from the local government for their employees allowing visiting work during the lockdown period.

As of May 20, 2020, 2784 cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Rostov Oblast region, and 989 persons have already recovered. 248 people stay under regular medical supervision in the city of Taganrog. Fifty-two confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been registered in Taganrog. Forty-two of these people have already recovered.

Taganrog Local Government has released several public announcements urging residents to stay home with family members to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to protect the most vulnerable in this community, and to consider social distancing of at least 1.5 meters/5 feet.
