Exhibition "Taganrog and Yalta - brought together by Chekhov's Genius" opens in Taganrog.

September 10, 2015: the project "Taganrog and Yalta - brought together by Chekhov's Genius" was conceived as a synergetic combination of two institutions, the Taganrog State Literary and Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve and "The White Dacha" Chekhov Museum in Yalta, Crimea whose unique objects were merged in a unique exhibition. After Crimea's return to Russia in 2014, the close cooperation between the two Chekhov museums was born again and resulted in this project, which debuted in Yalta on July 15, 2015 and will now be on show in Taganrog. The visitors may see various Anton Chekhov's photographs, documents, letters and personal things from two collections that complement each other.

The exhibition was officially opened by Mr. Alexander Rezvanov, Rostov Oblast minister of culture; Mrs. Marina Radomskaya, deputy mayor of Taganrog; Mrs. Yelizaveta Lipovenko, director of Taganrog State Literary and Historical-Architectural Museum-Reserve and Mrs. Lina Titorenko, deputy director of "The White Dacha" Chekhov Museum.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mrs. Lipovenko highlighted the painstaking work done by two museums' staffs: "Chekhov museums around the world are interconnected and keep up friendship and cooperation. This project is not the first joint experience for Taganrog and Yalta. Earlier in year 2014 we held another joint event under the name "The world is a blooming garden", and after this exhibition project we plan to work together on publishing a catalog of Anton Chekhov's private collection of books".
