Visit of German anti-fascist activist Tobias Pfennig

June 11, 2019: German anti-fascist and anti-imperialist activist Tobias Pfennig visited the city of Taganrog on May 22-June 10, 2019.

Tobias Pfennig has been known as the leader of Munich-based Anti-Imperialist Action (Anti-Imperialistische Aktion), and organiser of anti-fascist international conferences in Donetsk and Lugansk Peoples Republics, and several anti-fascist gatherings in Germany.

The German guest visited several monuments to the people who died during the Great Partiotic War, including the monument on Sambek Heights dedicated to the battle of Mius-Front, and the memorial in the Gully of Death (German Todesschlucht) in Petrushino, where at least 7,000 Soviet civilians were massacred by the German occupation authorities during the Occupation of Taganrog in 1941-1943.

Mr. Pfennig visited cultural attractions within Taganrog historical downtown area, Anton Chekhov memorial sites, and layed flowers to the monuments of Soviet military glory in the town of Matveyev Kurgan. He also presented his own translation of "The Green Book" by the former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to the Foreign Language Department of Taganrog Chekhov Public Library.
