Delegation of The Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh visiting Taganrog.

May 20, 2015: a delegation of the "Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh" headed by its Chairman Franz Kiesl is visiting the city of Taganrog. This is the third visit of the Forum to the home city of Anton Chekhov - following the meetings in 2009 and 2012. In April 2014, the Taganrog Municipal Chamber Orchestra directed by Alexander Gurevich was invited by the Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh and gave concerts in Bielefeld-Senne, Steinhagen, Gütersloh and Bonn.

The German delegation came to Taganrog on May 14 and within a few days visited the major tourist attractions, museums, Taganrog drama theater, held meetings with Taganrog school students within the framework of "My Germany" project, visited the cities of Azov and Rostov on Don, met with young artists and students of Taganrog Teachers College.

May 19, 2015 the representatives of "Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh" met with Mayor Vladimir Prasolov. The chairman of the Forum shared his personal impressions of the current visit to the city, and invited the Taganrog photographers to participate in an exhibition to be held in Berlin's "Russian House". The exhibition will feature photographs made by Klaus Peter Jantos on the visit to Taganrog in May 2015 and photo art by local photojournalists. "We would like as many as possible Germans know more about your culture, Russian hospitality and peoples' attitude to visitors from abroad", - told Franz Kiesl - "that might be our little sensation in Berlin".

Mayor Vladimir Prasolov highlighted the importance of continuing exchanges between Russia and Germany: "Each country has its specifics and its problems, both economic and political. With that in mind, culture is a domain where mutual understanding comes first. Personal impressions always count better than mainstream mass media. Due to current geopolitical situation, the world community is sometimes ignorant of what's really going on, and that is why your visit is so important today".
