December 1, 2023: yesterday heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Rostov Oblast, accompanied by Rostov Oblast First Deputy Governor Alexander Skryabin, regional deputy minister for economic development Yelena Fedotova and representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MID) of the Russian Federation in Rostov Yury Zikeev visited Taganrog.
The group of diplomats included the Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don Burkhan Alikulov, the Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Rostov-on-Don Levon Minasyan, the Head of the Branch of the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in the Russian Federation in Rostov-on-Don Dmitry Shkurd, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Abkhazia in Rostov-on-Don Adik Arshba, and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles in Moscow, Moscow Oblast and Rostov Oblast Dmitry Kislov.

The first item in the program was the
Taganrog Iron & Steel Factory TAGMET. The visitors laid flowers to the memorial to the metallurgists who fell during the Great Patriotic War (World War II). Then, accompanied by TAGMET's Managing Director Sergey Bilan and the Head of Technical Department Sergey Verkhoglyad, the guests were shown round the division of electric steel melting, the division of pipe welding and the division of pipe rolling shops of TAGMET. Later on, the group also visited LEMAX production plant.

In the conference hall of Taganrog's "Priazovye" Hotel, Alexander Skryabin held a meeting with the diplomats on international cooperation. During the session, Taganrog City Manager Andrey Fateyev spoke about the corresponding achievements of the current year. For example, the international campaign
"The World Reads Chekhov,", organized by Foreign Relations Office of Taganrog Local Government and Taganrog Chekhov Public Library, brought together almost 400 enthusiasts of Russian literature from 70 countries and received a special prize at
"Rudomino Award-2022" contest.
"The course towards strengthening of the international cooperation will definitely continue next year," emphasized Andrey Fateyev.

Since Taganrog is a city with a rich history and culture, the program went beyond local enterprises. In the second half of the day, the diplomatic agents visited the Museum of Architecture and Urbanism, Peter the Great Monument and the Museum of Local Lore and History (The Alferaki Palace). They also participated in the presentation of the new book "The Citizen of Taganrog", dedicated to 25 famous persons born or closely related to the history of this city.
