October 14, 2022: fifty-two projects from eight regions of Russia participated in the final of the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts stage of Russian Event Awards. It took place in the city of Yalta, Crimea, on October 12. The stage was organized in the framework of the International Trade Fair for Travel and Tourism "Intourmarket: The Autumn"
The jury of Russian Event Awards paid close attention to several events of cultural tourism associated with Taganrog. In particular, the International Chekhov Book Festival had the lead in the category "The Most Significant Event of Art and Culture". Its last edition
took place in Taganrog on May 20-22, 2022. The International Chekhov Book Festival has been held since 2007 with the support of Rostov Oblast Ministry of Culture, Taganrog Local Government, Taganrog Arts & Culture Council, Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications and other partners. In the 15 years of its existence, the event became noted all over Russia.
"The Umbrella Morning" festival ranked 2nd in the category "The Best Performance or Carnival". The award-winning event
was dedicated to the Taganrog-native actress Faina Ranevskaya
. The inaugural festival was organized in 2008. Since then, "The Umbrella Morning" continues to attract and fascinate
more and more tourists.
Award for 2nd place in the category "The Most Significant Historical Event" was given to the retro-train from Rostov-on-Don to Taganrog, a project run by the local tour company Sudakov Travel.
