Call for Entries to the 3rd Edition of "The Heritage of Cyril and Methodius in the modern world"
October 22, 2020: Taganrog Municipal Secondary School Number 5 and Taganrog Foreign Relations Office are inviting you to participate in the international project "The Heritage of Cyril and Methodius in the Modern World". The meaning of "heritage" here is not limited to Orthodox background of Slavic missionaries. The topics are Slavic writing, languages, and culture.
The first edition of the project was realized in 2009, and the project became an international event in 2013. Its geographical scope has expanded in recent years. "The Heritage of Cyril and Methodius in the Modern World" has involved participants from Austria, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, United States of America, Ukraine, and other countries. Such a long list is an evidence of the organizer's right attitude towards participants, giving a warm welcome to everybody interested in Slavic culture, languages and writing.
All participants will receive electronic certificates of participation.

The goals are:
Popularization of the Cyrillic alphabet, Slavic culture, history and writing;
Finding fellow-thinkers outside of Russia;
Exchange of best practices;
Development of cultural cooperation and friendship.
Who can enter?
Any educational institutions, NGOs, linguistic communities or enthusiastic individuals..
Project topics:
Cyril and Methodius: their life, activity, role in history, culture and religion;
Cyrillic script: its past, present and the future;
Languages using the Cyrillic script;
Celebrations of the Day of Slavic Writing around the world;
Slavic culture, history, arts, cuisine, etc.
Forms of participation:
Art exhibition dedicated to one of the six project topics;
Photo exhibition dedicated to one of the six project topics;
Essay writing dedicated to one of the six project topics;
"Video bridge" - videoconferencing via Skype;
Exchange of videos, scenarios and other materials dedicated to one of the six project topics;
Other forms of cooperation (at the suggestion of the parties).
Photography Specifications:
Digital images to be emailed as JPG files on or before January 1, 2021.
Should contain the following information: title of the photograph, author's full name and age, educational institution (if appropriate), city, country.
Artwork Requirements:
Any technique may be used for the drawing (oil painting, watercolor, graphic arts, tempera, poster, acrylic, etc.).

Submitted digital photos or scans of the artwork should be emailed on or before January 1, 2021.
Essay Specifications:
Your essay must be no more than two printed A4 sheets, font size 14 and must be in response to one of the topics from the designated list above.

Summarizing and awarding:
It is planned to create an international cultural centre online with all the submitted works.
ll participants will be granted with electronic certificates of participation from Taganrog Municipal Secondary School No. 5.
