September 19, 2012 :September 15, 2012: the festival "Sport by the Whole Wide World. From the Bottom of the Heart" was held in Taganrog.
At the press-conference held at the Chekhov Public Library were present the following: Alexander Grebenshikov, Vice-Governor of Rostov Oblast; Vladimir Prasolov, Mayor of Taganrog; Alexander Inshakov, President of the National Premium "Sport by the Whole Wide World"; Yuriy Golubev, Vice-President of the National Award "Sport by the Whole Wide World"; Svetlana Zhurova, Olympic Champion and member of the Russian Federation Council; Sergey Trofimov, performer.
Representatives of federal, regional and local mass media were interested why the city of Taganrog was the first city to hold the event. "We visited this city in February 2012 and were amazed to see so many historic places. Taganrog is a splendid, beautiful city on the shore of Azov Sea, and which is already a traditionally popular place for other festivals. That is why we decided to hold the festival here", told Alexander Inshakov. Vice-Governor Alexander Grebenshikov guaranteed the support from Rostov Oblast, and Vladimir Prasolov highlighted that enthusiasm of people who are not indifferent and charitable foundations can do a lot. "There is always a place for heroic deeds in life. A place for an action from the bottom of one's heart. The work made by charitable foundations can be compared to volunteers' activity. They strive to help people and improve the situation. This festival is for such guys who can get together and do the right thing" commented Svetlana Zhurova.
The festival gathered an unprecedented amount of spectators. Such a large-scale event is for the first time in Taganrog. In front of the stage were held short interviews, photo shoots of boxers Nikolay Valuev and Natasha Ragozina, heroes of Krimsk and Italian singer Riccardo Fogli.
At 8:00PM the festivities continued on stage constructed on Pushkin Embankment. Mayor of Taganrog, Vladimir Prasolov and Vice-Governor Grebenshikov greeted the citizens of Taganrog on the occasion of the city foundation anniversary, and the organizers awarded the guests - heroes of salvation operations at Krimsk, at Costa Concordia's wreckage, in South Ossetia and distinguished policemen of Rostov Oblast.
Among the performers were: Sergey Trofimov, Denis Maidanov, Alexey Khvorostyan, Anatoly Alyoshin, Riccardo Fogli, many sportsmen and Olympic champions. The event was concluded with fireworks.
