February 22, 2022: Taganrog became one of the cities in Rostov Oblast, lodging refugees due to the deteriorating situation
in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics as Ukrainian forces and neo-Nazi militias continue to attack Donbass.
Local places of temporary accommodation (PTA) continue their work. The largest one is located in the Sports Palace of Taganrog Youth Sports School No. 13 (Ulitsa Lenina, 212), with maximum capacity up to 500 people. The proper functioning of PTAs is ensured by employees of Taganrog Municipal Department of Emergency Situations and Department of Social Protection, physicians, volunteers and other workers.
Taganrog's executives have repeatedly visited PTAs in order to facilitate their smooth functioning. Among the visitors were Taganrog City Council President and City Executive Inna Titarenko and Deputy City Manager Svetlana Kambulova. They contributed to resolving such issues as the provision of necessities, medicines, food, basic personal hygiene items to the refugees.
Local businesses, Taganrog City Council (Duma) deputies, the staff of Taganrog Youth Sports School No. 13 and many concerned residents of Taganrog have participated in providing conditions necessary for the stay of people from Donbass region.
