December 19, 2016: a "video bridge" communication was held between senior high school students of Taganrog Municipal School Number 5 and Senior High School Number 2 named after Valery Chkalov in the city of Naryn, Kyrgyzstan.
The first dialog in this format was initiated by the Russian school and Taganrog Foreign Relations Office within the framework of the
International Project "The Heritage of Saints Cyril and Methodius in the modern world" and was held in spring 2016.
Soviet and Kyrgyz author Chyngyz Aitmatov, his life and literary heritage became topics for the new conference. Children on both sides were actively involved in a live discussion on contemporary issues faced by the humanity and The Great Abstractions basing on Aitmatov books they read.
Participants of the video bridge talked about the tragic fate of the boy from "The White Steamship", teacher's character from the same novel, relations with "our lesser brothers" - animals ("Farewell, Gulsary!" novel). A special attention was focused on the book "Mother Field", as the subject of the Great Patriotic War and victory in WWII is very important for peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
While preparing for the talk, school students found out an interesting fact - Chyngyz Aitmatov participated in the inauguration of Taganrog's
Anton Chekhov Monument in January 1960.
