"The World Reads Chekhov" Brings Together People from 81 Countries

July 16, 2025: the city of Taganrog is inextricably linked to the name of Anton Chekhov. The would-be world-famous playwright and writer spent 19 years — nearly half of his life — in the home city, where many streets and houses still look the way Chekhov saw them more than a century ago.

Yesterday Taganrog paid tribute to 121 years since the day the writer passed away in Badenweiler, Germany. The conclusion of the 3rd International Reading and Literature Project "The World Reads Chekhov" was timed to coincide with this commemorative date.
