Students of the Yerevan Chekhov School visited Taganrog

July 8, 2025: about a month ago (June 6), Rostov Oblast Acting Governor Yury Slyusar visited the Yerevan Basic School No. 55 named after Anton Chekhov in the framework of a working trip to the Republic of Armenia. In this school, all lessons are conducted in Russian.

Yury Slyusar not only presented the school with a commemorative medal and anniversary publications dedicated to Chekhov literary heritage but also invited its best students to visit Rostov Oblast, particularly Taganrog as the birthplace of the famous Russian writer.

The return visit of the representatives of the Yerevan Basic School No. 55 named after Anton Chekhov began on July 6. On July 8, students and teachers, accompanied by officials of the regional and city governments, members of the Nakhichevan-on-Don Armenian community and the Assistant to the Consul General of the Republic of Armenia in Rostov-on-Don Liana Petrosyan arrived in Taganrog.

A rich cultural program awaited the guests from Yerevan. They saw the main Chekhov sites, such as the Birth House of Anton Chekhov, "The Chekhovs' Shop," "House of Pavel Chekhov," and the Chekhov Literary Museum, which is located in the historical building of the boys' gymnasium.

Within the walls of the gymnasium, the director of the Yerevan Basic School No. 55 Diana Minasyan and the director of the Chekhov Gymnasium Natalya Lisitsyna exchanged memorable souvenirs.

The Armenian students received unforgettable experience and expressed their intention to continue strengthening cultural ties with the city of Taganrog.
