May 7, 2026: the biannual International Children's Art Contest "Anton Chekhov and Characters of his Works" was held for the thirteenth time in the city of Taganrog.

In 2026, hundreds of artworks from Russia and five world countries (Bulgaria, China, Kazakhstan, Sri Lanka, and Slovenia) were received by the organizers of the contest.

The Grand Prize was awarded to Victoria Lysenko (aged 14) from the city of Shakhty, Rostov Oblast, Russia for her work "Isaac Levitan and Anton Chekhov in the Open Air."
