May 22. 2026: yesterday, on the eve of the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture, a joint exhibition entitled "Cyrillic in Other Countries" was unveiled to the public at the Taganrog Chekhov Public Library. It was organized by the library and Department for Tourism and Foreign Relations of Taganrog Local Government.
Taganrog's long-standing cultural partners from eight countries contributed photographs to the exhibition: Abkhazia (the Apsny-Rus Cultural Foundation, the city of Gudauta), Belarus (Mogilev Library), Bulgaria (Hristo Botev School, the city of Plovdiv), Germany (the city of Paderborn and
the public organization "Forum Russische Kultur Gütersloh", India (Vadodara University Library), Kazakhstan (the Russian Center of Aktobe), Côte d'Ivoire (the Association of Russian Speakers in Côte d'Ivoire, the city of Abidjan), and the United States (University of Iowa).
The exhibition is supplemented by observations about Cyrillic from exhibitors whose native languages use the Latin alphabet.
The photographs, which feature people from various countries studying Cyrillic or Russian, will be on display for two weeks. Admission is free.
